There are 10 new movie releases this Friday. Two are opening everywhere and another eight are in limited release.
Nationwide – New Movie Releases This Friday, May 13th:
Movie: Bridesmaids (R)
Starring: Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy, Wendi McLendon-Covey & Ellie Kemper
Genre: Comedy
Synopsis: A woman’s life continues to unravel after her longtime friend asks her to be her made of honor.
First Thoughts: Go see this movie. Funniest thing I’ve seen in some time. Wiig and McCarthy are fantastic. Look for full review later this week.
Movie: Priest (PG-13)
Starring: Paul Bettany, Karl Urban, Cam Gigandet & Maggie Q
Genre: Action
Synopsis: When a warrior priest’s niece is taken by a group of vampires, he along with a young sheriff and a bad ass beautiful priestess go after them against the orders of the Church.
First Thoughts: It actually looks like it might be good. Since, I’ve already seen Bridesmaids, I’ll be going to see this on Friday. Also available in 3D.
Limited – New Movie Releases Coming Friday, May 13th:
- Cameraman: The Life and Work of Jack Cardiff – Documentary about the celebrated British cinematographer who worked with some of the biggest names in film history.
- Everything Must Go – Drama starring Will Ferrell about a car salesman whose life has spiraled down the crapper due to his drinking problem.
- The First Grader – Drama based on the true story of an 84-year-old Kenyan man that fought for his right to an education. It’s a great story, but only a good movie. Begins well, drags in the middle and then recovers and closes out well. It will play here in Seattle as part of the Seattle International Film Festival starting May 19th.
- Go for It! – Drama about a teen girl in Chicago that is stuck between her desire to become a dancer and what her parents expect from her.
- Hesher – Family drama starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Natalie Portman and Rainn Wilson about a grief stricken father and the strange long-haired squatter he can’t get rid of.
- L’Amour Fou – Biography of Yves Saint Laurent.
- Skateland – Drama set in 1980s Texas about a skating rink manager that is forced to take a look at his life after dramatic events.
- True Legend – Action flick starring Vincent Zhao and Michelle Yeoh about a man that has gone bankrupt and becomes a hero in the streets.
There are four new movies playing in my area this week. They are Bridesmaids, Everything Must Go, Hesher, and Priest. What new movie releases this Friday will you be heading out to see?
