in New Movies This Friday

Well, let’s take a look at what is playing this week. There are 12 movies hitting theaters, with four opening everywhere and eight others in limited release.

Opening Nationwide on Friday, October 24th:

Movie: High School Musical 3: Senior Year (G)
Starring: Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Corbin Bleu & Monique Coleman
Genre: Teen Musical Comedy
Synopsis: All your favorite characters from the first two movies are facing their senior year and what that will mean for them as they head off to different colleges. A big spring musical is staged that reflects what has gone on at school and their thoughts on the future.
First Thoughts: Haven’t seen the first two and don’t suspect that I will see this one anytime soon.

Movie: Pride and Glory (R)
Starring: Edward Norton, Colin Farrell, Jon Voight, Noah Emmerich & Jennifer Ehle
Genre: Family Police Drama
Synopsis: The story takes place in the New York City Police Department, as a multi-generational family of cops deals with a an internal investigation. It pits one brother against another, as it looks like one of two brothers may be involved in a huge incident that could make the police look really bad. The other brother is put in charge of the investigation.
First Thoughts: The cast is excellent and the previews look really good. This is the movie I am planning on seeing tomorrow.

Movie: Saw V (R)
Starring: Tobin Bell, Julie Benz, Meagan Good, Costas Mandylor & Scott Patterson
Genre: Horror
Synopsis: It seems that loose ends must be tied up when his secret is threatened.
First Thoughts: Haven’t seen the first four and don’t plan on seeing this one anytime soon.

Movie: Tim Burton’s The Night Before Christmas in Disney Digital 3D (PG-13)
Genre: Animated Fantasy
Synopsis: Follow Jack Skellington on his quest to takeover Christmas in 3D.
First Thoughts: Never cared all that much for the original, so seeing it in 3D isn’t really all that appealing.
