There are seven movies opening this Friday. Two are opening everywhere and five more open on a limited basis.
Opening Nationwide on Friday, December 10th:
Movie: Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (PG)
Starring: Ben Barnes, Georgie Henley & Skandar Keynes
Genre: Fantasy Adventure
Synopsis: Lucy, Edmund, and their cousin Eustace are back in Narnia and join Prince Caspian for a voyage on the royal vessel known as The Dawn Treader. Their voyage has them crossing paths with merfolk, dragons, dwarves, and a wandering band of lost warriors.
First Thoughts: I’ve seen the first two and will probably see this one as well, but there is not that huge level of excitement to do so, even though it looks visually spectacular. It is also available in 3D.
Movie: The Tourist (PG)
Starring: Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp, Paul Bettany, Rufus Sewell & Timothy Dalton
Genre: Thriller
Synopsis: An American tourist on a trip to Italy hoping to mend his broken heart crosses paths with an extraordinary woman that gets him involved unwittingly in her plan.
First Thoughts: This looks like a whole lot of fun. Looking forward to see it in on Friday.
Movies in Limited Release:
- The Company Men – Tommy Lee Jones, Ben Affleck, Chris Cooper, Maria Bello, Rosemarie DeWitt, Kevin Costner, Craig T. Nelson and Eamonn Walker star in this drama about a man and his co-workers dealing with downsizing at their company.
- The Fighter – Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale star in this sports drama about a boxer and the journey he took to the title. Opens wide next week. Really looking forward to seeing this one at some point.
- Hemingway’s Garden of Eden – Mena Suvari and Mathew Modine star in this period drama about a woman that tests her marriage while on her honeymoon in Europe.
- The Tempest (2010) – Helen Mirren and Djimon Hounsou star in this fantasy drama.
- You Won’t Miss Me – Psychological drama that is shot in a bunch of different formats and styles.
