in New Movies This Friday

Saw three movies last weekend, still have reviews for Fanboys and He’s Just Not That Into You on their way. But, it’s time to look at what is playing this week. There are five movies opening this week, three everywhere and two others are in limited release.

Opening Nationwide on Friday, February 13th:

Movie: Confessions of a Shopaholic (PG)
Starring: Isla Fisher, Hugh Dancy, Krysten Ritter, Joan Cusack & John Goodman
Genre: Comedy
Synopsis: A sweet young woman from New York City that can’t seem to say no when it comes to shopping is starting to go deep in debt. She would like to work for a high fashion magazine, but can’t seem to make that happen. One day she gets a job working as an advice columnist for a financial magazine owned by the same company of the fashion magazine she wants to work for. He column becomes a big success, which only helps to spur on her shopping addiction until things threaten to spiral completely out of control.
First Thoughts: I like Isla Fisher, so will probably check this out down the road at some point.

Movie: Friday the 13th (2009) (R)
Starring: Jared Padalecki, Danielle Panabaker, Amanda Righetti, Travis Van Winkle, Aaron Yoo & Derek Mears
Genre: Horror
Synopsis: A guy goes into the woods looking for his sister near a lake that and an old camp ground. The masked killer has a field day with him and a group of college students that have gone there to party.
First Thoughts: Never cared for the original and the remake holds no interest for me either.

Movie: The International (R) (Read Review)
Starring: Clive Owen, Naomi Watts, Armin Mueller-Stahl & Brian F. O’Byrne
Genre: Action Thriller
Synopsis: An Interpol agent teams up with a prosecutor from New York to try and stop a major bank that is behind the funding of terrorism around the world. They try and follow the money and as they do, they end up putting their own lives in danger the closer they come.
First Thoughts: This is what I will be going to see this Friday. As with most movies, I just hope it comes close to being as good as it looks in the trailer, which is pretty good.

Movies in Limited Release:

  • Two Lovers – Psychological romantic drama starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Joaquin Phoenix.
  • Under the Sea 3D – Get a look at some of the most exotic underwater locations in IMAX 3D.

For New Movie Friday there are five new movies to choose from this week. They are Confessions of a Shopaholic, Friday the 13th (2009), and The International. What new movie looks good to you this week?
