Seattle International Film Festival 2014 started last night with Jimi: All Is By My Side. Given that it was written and directed by John Ridley (Academy Award®-winning screenwriter of 12 Years a Slave) and is about Jimi Hendrix who was from Seattle, it makes since to be the movie that kicks SIFF 2014 off. But, quality-wise not actually a great way to do so. Anyway, things get fully underway as of tonight.
So, I’ve gone through and read all the descriptions and watched trailers for most of the movies playing over the 25 day festival and picked out the ones I am most interested in checking out. I’ve broken them into four groups: Opening Weekend (May 16th – 18th), Week One (May 19th – 25th), Week Two (May 26th – June 1st) and Week Three (June 2nd – 8th) and will be posting about them at the beginning of each week.
My picks for Opening Weekend are The Alchemy of Film Scoring 2014 panel discussion, Beyond the Brick: A LEGO® Brickumentary, Canopy, The Double, The Fault in Our Stars, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Search for General Tso, Serenity, Trust Me and Zip & Zap and the Marble Gang. Follow the links below for ticket and venue information.
