New Films in Theaters Friday, June 24th, 2011

There are nine new films in theaters Friday. Two open everywhere and another seven are in limited release.

Nationwide – New Films in Theaters Friday, June 24th:

Movie: Bad Teacher (R)
Starring: Cameron Diaz, Justin Timberlake, Jason Segel, Lucy Punch & John Michael Higgins
Genre: Comedy
Synopsis: A junior high teacher that only cares about recently being dumped by her rich boyfriend. Her pursuit of a new colleague puts her up against one of the most loved teachers at the school.
First Thoughts: I’ll have a review posted Thursday evening.

Movie: Cars 2 (G)
Starring: Owen Wilson, Larry the Cable Guy, John Turturro, Eddie Izzard & Michael Caine
Genre: Animated Family Comedy
Synopsis: Lighting McQueen and Mater head over seas to participate in the first World Grand Prix, which will determine the world’s fastest car. Mater ends up getting mixed up in some international espionage, so he has to choose between helping McQueen and a top-secret mission.
First Thoughts: Have yet to see Cars, animated movies no matter how good they are said to be just don’t interest me. I’m sure the little ones will enjoy it as much as they loved the first one. It’s also out in 3D and IMAX 3D.

Limited – New Films in Theaters Friday, June 24th:

  • The Beginning of the Great Revival – Historical drama about the formation of the communist party in China.
  • A Better Life – Family drama about a father that will do anything to provide for his family the things he never had.
  • Conan O’Brien Can’t Stop – Comedy documenting the 32 city concert tour Conan O’Brien went on after being let go by NBC.
  • Leap Year – Drama about a woman wanting to end it all and the man she meets that will help her.
  • A Love Affair of Sorts – Romantic comedy drama about a painter that has an affair with a Hungarian nanny and documents everything with his Flip camera.
  • The Names of Love – Comedy about a leftist woman that sleeps with men on the right in an effort to swing them over to her political side until one day she meets a man that it doesn’t work on.
  • Turtle: The Incredible Journey – Documentary about the incredible journey and life of endangered sea turtles.

There are three new films playing in my area this week. They are Bad Teacher, Cars 2, and Conan O’Brien Can’t Stop. Of the nine new films in theaters Friday, which one are you going to see?
