What New Movies Open Friday, February 24th, 2012?

Eight new movies open Friday. Four open nationwide and another four open on a limited basis.

Nationwide – New Movies Opening Friday, February 24th:

Movie: Act of Valor (R)
Starring: Roselyn Sanchez, Alex Veadov, Nestor Serrano and many active duty Navy SEALs
Genre: Action Adventure
Synopsis: A fictional account of real Navy SEAL operations that has a team sent to recover a CIA operative that has been abducted, but come to find there is a bigger threat. The SEALs are then sent on a mission to put a stop to a global terrorist plot.
First Thoughts: This seems like a very interesting idea and the trailer looks really good, but I have a feeling that the acting is going to be less than stellar.

Movie: Gone (PG-13)
Starring: Amanda Seyfried, Daniel Sunjata, Jennifer Carpenter, Sebastian Stan & Wes Bentley
Genre: Psychological Thriller
Synopsis: A woman returns home to find that her sister has been taken. She herself has previously survived a kidnapping a year earlier. She is believes that it is the same serial killer that she escaped from. Yet, the police have no evidence to go on. So, she goes out on her own to find her sister.
First Thoughts: This isn’t my type of movie to begin with, but since the studio didn’t screen it for critics (normally a really bad sign), I doubt it will be anyone’s type.

Movie: Tyler Perry’s Good Deeds (PG-13)
Starring: Tyler Perry, Thandie Newton, Gabrielle Union, Eddie Cibrian, Phylicia Rashad, Rebecca Romijn & Jamie Kennedy
Genre: Romantic Drama
Synopsis: A very successful man has become very stuck in his ways. He always does what has been expected of him, like taking control of his father’s company, getting ready to marry. But, one day he meets a woman on the cleaning crew of his office that jolts him out of his routine life. He offers to help her out and in doing so may turn things around to pursue the life he has always wanted.
First Thoughts: Tyler Perry isn’t playing a woman, so I’m confused.

Movie: Wanderlust (R)
Starring: Paul Rudd, Jennifer Aniston, Justin Theroux, Alan Alda & Malin Akerman
Genre: Comedy
Synopsis: A married couple can no longer afford their current lifestyle after he loses his job. So, they decide to move in with his brother. Soon they can no longer deal with the situation and head out of town and end up at on commune while looking for a bed and breakfast. They decide to stay for a bit.
First Thoughts: This looks pretty funny and looks like the perfect comedic role for Paul Rudd.
