Lots of movies having limited openings this week, there are like 10 and three new movies opening wide.
Opening Nationwide on Friday, December 12th:
Movie: The Day the Earth Stood Still (PG-13)
Starring: Keanu Reeves, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Kathy Bates & Jaden Smith
Genre: Sci Fi Drama
Synopsis: This is a remake of the 1951 film of the same name about an alien and a robot that come to earth and warn us of the dangers of nuclear war.
First Thoughts: I don’t believe this remake follows the same story of the original, so I am not sure what the alien and the robot have come to earth for, but since they are going to wipe us out, they must becoming to warn us that we are ruining the earth or something. Guess I’ll find out tomorrow when I go see it. It is also available in The IMAX Experience.
Movie: Delgo (PG)
Starring: Freddie Prinze, Jr., Jennifer Love Hewitt, Anne Bancroft, Chris Kattan & Val Kilmer
Genre: Animated Children’s Fantasy
Synopsis: Two races that don’t get along become even more hostile towards each other when a young man from one befriends a young woman from the other, which sets the stage for a banished ruler to try and retake the thrown and rule over both.
First Thoughts: Could not care less.
Movie: Nothing Like the Holidays (PG-13)
Starring: Freddy Rodriguez, John Leguizamo, Debra Messing, Alfred Molina & Jay Hernandez
Genre: Family Holiday Dramedy
Synopsis: All the members of the Rodriguez family are coming home to Chicago for Christmas. One has just return from military duty and wants to rekindle things with a former flame, another is a struggling actress, and the oldest has brought home his high-powered business executive wife. The story takes place over a week and starts with the mother of the clan announcing she wants a divorce from their father.
First Thoughts: They call this a drama, but it looked funnier than Four Christmases in the ads, so who knows. Will probably see it at some point, but not tomorrow.
