There are seven movies opening this Friday. Three are opening everywhere and four more open on a limited basis.
Opening Nationwide on Friday, December 17th:
Movie: How Do You Know (PG-13)
Starring: Reese Witherspoon, Owen Wilson, Paul Rudd & Jack Nicholson
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Synopsis: A woman and former athlete is feeling she is past her prime and all of a sudden finds herself in the middle of a love triangle that consists of her, a corporate guy that is in crisis her current baseball-playing boyfriend.
First Thoughts: The cast is great. Will probably see it at some point.
Movie: Tron: Legacy (PG)
Starring: Garrett Hedlund, Jeff Bridges, Beau Garrett, Bruce Boxleitner, Olivia Wilde & Michael Sheen
Genre: Sci-Fi Action Adventure
Synopsis: The son of Kevin Flynn begins to investigate his father’s disappearance 25 years ago and subsequently gets sucked into the same digital world his father did. He, his father and another take a dangerous journey through this cyber universe that is more advanced and deadly than it has ever been.
First Thoughts: I’ve been looking forward to this since I first heard it was going to be made. It’s also playing in 3D and IMAX-3D.
Movie: Yogi Bear (PG)
Starring: Dan Aykroyd, Justin Timberlake, Anna Faris & Tom Cavanagh
Genre: Animated Family Comedy
Synopsis: The Hanna-Barbera classic cartoon gets the big screen treatment with a mix of animation and live action. A documentary crew has come to Jellystone Park and the ranger tries to keep Yogi and Boo Boo undercontrol.
First Thoughts: Looks mildly amusing, but because of my fondness for the original I’ll probably see it at some point. Also playing in 3D.
Movies in Limited Release:
- And Soon the Darkness – Slasher film starring Odette Yustman and Amber Heard about two girls on a bike trip through Argentina and after one goes missing, the other goes searching for her.
- Casino Jack – Political satire starring Kevin Spacey and Barry Pepper about a lobbyist and his protégé that finds their schemes going wrong.
- Frankie and Alice – Psychological drama starring Halle Berry about a woman with multiple personalities that has to deal with her racist side.
- Rabbit Hole – Psychological drama starring Nicole Kidman and Aaron Eckhart about a couple trying to overcome the accidental death of their 4-year-old son.
The Fighter expands nationwide this week.
