Was kind of under whelmed by Quantum of Solace last week, but I think I was just too excited to see it. Now, it’s time to look at what is hitting theaters this week? There are five movies opening, two everywhere and three others are in limited release.
Opening Nationwide on Friday, November 21st:
Movie: Bolt (PG)
Starring: John Travolta, Miley Cyrus, Susie Essman, Mark Walton & Malcolm McDowell
Genre: Animated Adventure Comedy
Synopsis: A dog that stars in a hit TV show gets shipped to the wrong place, but he thinks that what happens on the show is real. He sets out on his biggest adventure yet, going cross-country to get home. He hooks up with a cat and a hamster for the journey.
First Thoughts: Could be fun for the little ones and the parents who will be taking them, also available in Disney Digital 3-D.
Movie: Twilight (PG-13)
Starring: Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Billy Burke, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Cam Gigandet & Nikki Reed
Genre: Romantic Fantasy
Synopsis: The story of a teen girl and a vampire she falls for. She has always been different and not quite fit in at school. So, she goes to live with her father in Forks, Washington and expects that things will be much the same there. She then meets a boy that is like no one else she has ever met before. He is a vampire, but one that is part of a family of vampires that don’t drink human blood. He has been searching for his soul mate for 90 years and she might just be the one. He has to control himself, as her scent could send him into an uncontrollable frenzy. But, things get messed up when a new group of vampires come to town and threaten the way things have been.
First Thoughts: This is the movie that I am going to see this week, hope it isn’t as bad as I’ve heard. Also, hope I don’t get trampled by packs of 13-year-old girls trying to get into the theater.
Movies in Limited Release:
- I Can’t Think Straight – A Palestinian woman in London about to get married gets her world turned upside down by a young British Indian woman.
- Lake City – Family drama about a guy that gets in trouble with drug dealer so he gets out of town and hides out in the town and home he grew up in.
- Special – Superhero comedy starring Michael Rappaport (TV’s Prison Break) as a man who participates in a drug study and thinks the stuff he is taking is giving him special powers.
The The Boy in the Striped Pajamas opens wider this week.
For New Movie Friday there are two new movies to choose from this week. They are Bolt and Twilight. What new movie looks good to you this week?
