What New Movies Start Friday, May 1st, 2009?

There are six movies opening this week. Three are opening everywhere and three more open on a limited basis.

Opening Nationwide on Friday, May 1st:

Movie: Battle for Terra (PG)
Starring: Evan Rachel Wood, Justin Long, Luke Wilson, Dennis Quaid, Amanda Peet & Chris Evans
Genre: Animated Sci-Fi
Synopsis: A peaceful planet that has rejected war comes under attack by a group that is fleeing their planet because of civil war and environmental problems. Only one race may survive.
First Thoughts: I don’t like movie that take a point of view that humans are the bad guys out to destroy others for their survival.

Movie: Ghosts of Girlfriends Past (PG-13)
Starring: Matthew McConaughey, Jennifer Garner, Michael Douglas, Breckin Meyer & Lacey Chabert
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Synopsis: While attending the wedding of his younger brother, a guy gets visited by the ghosts of girlfriends from his past.
First Thoughts: It’s a different take on A Christmas Carol and will probably get watched at some point down the road.

Movie: X-Men Origins: Wolverine (PG-13)
Starring: Hugh Jackman, Liev Schreiber, Danny Huston, Lynn Collins & Ryan Reynolds
Genre: Comic Book Action
Synopsis: Takes place before the events of X-Men and tells of Wolverine’s past and his involvement in the Weapon X program. Wolverine comes across many other mutants.
First Thoughts: The first of what looks to be an outstanding group of Movies debuting during May. Have been looking forward to this one for awhile now and will be seeing it Friday morning.
