There are five movies opening this week. Two are opening everywhere and three more open on a limited basis.
Opening Nationwide on Friday, May 29th:
Movie: Drag Me to Hell (PG-13)
Starring: Alison Lohman, Justin Long, Lorna Raver, David Paymer & Dileep Rao
Genre: Supernatural Horror
Synopsis: A young woman living the good life in Los Angeles until she denies an old woman an extension on a loan. Then things start to go really bad for the young woman.
First Thoughts: You couldn’t drag me to the theater to see this one.
Movie: Up (PG)
Starring: Ed Asner, Christopher Plummer, John Ratzenberger, Bob Peterson, Jordan Nagai & Delroy Lindo
Genre: Animated Family Adventure
Synopsis: An old man and former balloon salesman gets to fulfill his lifelong dream. He goes about tying thousands of balloons to his house and floating away on a great adventure. He then finds that a young boy has accidentally stowed away. They end up visiting a lost world.
First Thoughts: The trailer for this looks really good, I laughed multiple times. It is also available in Disney Digital 3-D at some theaters.
Movies in Limited Release:
- Departures – Japanese film with English subtitles about a devoted cellist that loses his job when his orchestra is disbanded.
- Pontypool – Psychological thriller about a big city radio jockey that gets fired once again and gets a job at a radio station in a small town.
- What Goes Up – Period comedy drama about a morally challenged reporter that is sent to a small town to cover a story and looks up an old college friend and discovers a suicide.
