What New Movies Start Friday, May 15th, 2009?

There are six movies opening this week. One is opening everywhere and five more open on a limited basis.

Opening Nationwide on Friday, May 15th:

Movie: Angels & Demons (PG-13)
Starring: Tom Hanks, Ayelet Zurer, Ewan McGregor & Stellan Skarsgård
Genre: Thriller
Synopsis: Evidence of an ancient secret brotherhood known as the illuminati are beginning a resurgence is discovered. They are out to destroy the Catholic Church. Can their threat be stopped? Well, to attempt to do so, a hunt through crypts, tunnels, catacombs and cathedrals is put in motion. Symbols are followed and decoded in hopes of saving the Vatican.
First Thoughts: I’ve never seen The DaVinci Code, so this sequel doesn’t really draw me in. Unfortunately, it is the only new movie opening in my neck of the woods this Friday.

Movies in Limited Release:

  • Big Man Japan – Sci-fi comedy about a slacker with the power to turn into a giant, so he can save Japan.
  • The Brothers Bloom – Crime thriller about two brothers that grew up in foster care and became con artists. One just wants to live the simple life and stop having to pretend all the time for whatever new scheme his brother has dreamed up.
  • Management – Romantic comedy starring Jennifer Aniston and Steve Zahn about two mismatched people who meet by chance, but just might be good for each other. Was really hoping this was going to be playing somewhere around here this week, as this is the movie I’d like to go see this Friday.
  • O’Horten – Dramedy about an older man that is forced to retire and doesn’t know what to do with his life.
  • Summer Hours – Drama about three siblings in their forties who must come together and work through their differences after the death of their mother.

For New Movie Friday there is one new movie to choose from this week. It is Angels & Demons. What new movie looks good to you this week?
