What New Movies Start Friday, November 12th, 2010?

There are six movies opening this week. Three are opening everywhere, one on Wednesday and the other two on Friday, and three more open on a limited basis.

Opening Nationwide on Wednesday, November 10th:

Movie: Morning Glory (PG-13)
Starring: Harrison Ford, Rachel McAdams, Diane Keaton, Patrick Wilson & Jeff Goldblum
Genre: Comedy
Synopsis: The just hired producer for a national morning show goes about trying to improve ratings by bringing on an anchor that is a legend in the news game. He doesn’t want to do any puff, which puts him at odds with his co-host. Just when things are looking up for this young professional, her relationship begins to come apart and her job may be in jeopardy, as well as the show. Can she save all three?
First Thoughts: The cast is great and it looks funny, but I have a feeling that the movie isn’t exactly what the ads are trying to sell us on.

Opening Nationwide on Friday, November 12th:

Movie: Skyline (PG-13)
Starring: Donald Faison, Eric Balfour, David Zayas, Scottie Thompson & Brittany Daniel
Genre: Sci-Fi Action
Synopsis: Aliens are threatening to wipe the human population of the Earth.
First Thoughts: It looks kind of like an Independence Day without the big name cast. It’s got aliens, action and lots of special effects, so I’ll probably go see it on the big screen this weekend sometime.

Movie: Unstoppable (PG-13)
Starring: Denzel Washington, Chris Pine & Rosario Dawson
Genre: Action Thriller
Synopsis: A runaway train with a load of explosives onboard needs to be stopped before it crashes and takes out anything around it.
First Thoughts: Something tells me that they will find a way to stop it, but you can very seldom go wrong with a Denzel Washington movie. I’ll be seeing this one tomorrow.

Movies in Limited Release:

  • Cool It – A Danish researcher tells how he thinks governments to deal with climate change.
  • Tiny Furniture – A comedy drama about a recent college graduate that has returned home to figure out what she wants to do with her life.
  • You Won’t Miss Me – Experimental psychological drama about an urban misfit in New York.

For New Movie Friday there are four new movies playing in my area this week. They are Cool It, Morning Glory, Skyline, and Unstoppable. Do any of this week’s new movies look good to you? What will you be seeing this weekend?
